The Coastal Foraging & Wellness Retreat is an immersive four-day experience at Rocky Valley Resort on Texada Island that blends nature exploration with high-end culinary education. Led by expert forager Alexander "Biko" McNaughton and wine sommelier Lucia Capretti, guests participate in guided shoreline and forest excursions to harvest wild treasures like oysters and local edible plants. The all-inclusive stay features luxury accommodations, restorative forest spa circuits, and a hands-on cooking class where you’ll learn to prepare foraged finds paired with formal wine education.

Meet Your Hosts

  • Alexander "Biko" McNaughton (Forager): A premier wild food expert and former guide for Nimmo Bay and The Wickaninnish Inn, Alex operates an organic farm and wild foods lab.
  • Lucia Capretti (Wine Sommelier): A Certified Specialist of Wine and global storyteller, Lucia brings a worldwide perspective to connecting the glass to the land.

Itinerary Highlights

  • Day 1: Arrive & Unwind: Check into an A-frame or Tiny Home. Enjoy a property tour and your first Forest Spa session.
  • Day 2: Shoreline Treasures: Spend a full day immersed in the wild flavors of Rocky Valley Resort with our guided foraging experience. The day begins at 9:30 AM as we head into the forest to explore and gather seasonal treasures—wild mushrooms, berries, herbs, and edible plants—while learning how to identify and harvest them responsibly. After the morning forage, we’ll enjoy a locally made packed lunch on the beach, surrounded by the beauty of the coast. Following lunch, the adventure continues with beach foraging, discovering ocean-side delicacies and natural ingredients. Back at the resort, you’ll take part in a hands-on cooking class where the day’s harvest is transformed into incredible dishes. Afterward, unwind in your private cottage before returning for appetizers and thoughtfully selected wine pairings. The evening finishes with an unforgettable foraged and farm-to-table dining experience, expertly paired with wines, followed by time to relax around the fire or retreat to the forest spa for a peaceful end to the day.
  • Day 3: Spa Day & Late Check-out: Immerse yourself in the forest spa again before checking-out at 4:00 Pm, embark on a thrilling adventure with our 4x4 guided tours (add-on), or rent our E-bikes & paddleboards to explore the magic of the island.
